Fall is a brief interlude between cold summer nights and freezing winter days here in Alberta, mostly marked by the very brief yellowing of leaves before they are blown off. This week brought the first mention of snow in the city. A few days ago it was predicted for tomorrow – now they are calling for freezing rain to snow by Monday – and I was super sad it was happening so early in the season. Then I remembered this picture I took on our way to the airport last year, heading to San Fran (as I did this past weekend), which means that the snow came a week earlier. Haha – suck it past Jill. Future Jill wins.
And when I grabbed that picture from iPhoto I saw this snap I took of a floor lamp in The Cross when I was in Vancouver the week earlier (in 2010). The Cross is pretty much how I wish my house would look – and it might, if I took a bit of cash from the wine budget and stuck it in the home budget. Naw – that’s crazy talk. But I did fall in love with this lamp. I actually think I brought it up on my phone and showed people, like it was a kid or something. I would name it Mildred, but we would call it Milly during cocktail hour. It was a bit out of my price range, and by a bit I mean roughly equivalent to my first car, but still a girl can dream. Pretty lamp.
