Boxed in

So it’s been exactly a week since our kitchen cabinets were delivered and we’ve done exactly, um, nothing. Our contractor friend (who is also a friendly contractor) got some rain delays on his current project and then this weekend is visiting with his mom. And I’m a big fan of moms, so of course that’s alright with me.

It’s also only fair because every time he would ask me when I wanted to start my project I would say, “Um, May-ish?” Then I would adorably shrug my shoulders and give a bewildered look. To my phone. We mostly just text. That’s how business is done these days.

But I think he is going to arrive Monday, which means these lovelies are going buh-bye.

But until then, we’re living with this in our dining room:

Which means our dining room table is over here, in between our couch and TV:

Our house definitely looks like an episode of Hoarders, and hubs told me me that if any one comes to the door to not invite them in and do that awkward angle-your-body-in-front-of-the-door-to-block-their-view-inside move.

And yes under that cabinet is a sweet sun, moon and stars blanket I’ve had since I was ten. Thank you for noticing.

Oh, speaking of that cabinet, just shortly after this pic was taken I got up and said, “I’m going to turn it around so I can look at it’s pretty little face.”

Then I looked. And looked. And said, “Is it just me, or are they different?”

Yup, that’s two different doors on the same corner cabinet. The correct one is on the right.

To be fair, our cabinet guy from Home Depot was immediately all over it, wanting to order the right one. I told him to just wait and we’ll see if there are any other surprises.

To do this weekend:

• finally pick a flooring option (or at least think really really hard about it)
• pick out a sink and faucet (same as above)
• pick out hardware (same as above)
• run 18 km (actually do this)
• drink beer (totally do this)

Should be fun times.
